My mom drove me to Poudre Valley Hospital early in the morning. There was an emergency button outside, but it was broken. We waited by a locked door for someone to notice us. A guard let us in, and he had a wheelchair for me.
After getting checked in, I was wheeled to a room and put in bed. I had an IV in each arm for fluids and pain relief. I was wheeled to a second room for a CT scan. I was wheeled back to the first room. We were told the scan revealed an issue with the gallbladder, so it should be removed.
I was given an ultrasound and antibiotics. I undressed in a restroom. I was wheeled to a third room to prepare for the laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Before 11 AM, I was wheeled to a fourth room for the surgery. I was told to breathe through an oxygen mask.
I awoke in an unpleasantly noisy fifth room. I was wheeled to a quieter sixth room, where I got dressed. I was wheeled outside, and my mom drove me home. She made me half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner, and I ate it in bed. I had a can of Sprite for dessert. I got out of bed before 10 PM to watch television.
