Cousin Jack pasties, originated in the county of Cornwall, England, to fill the miner’s lunch bucket, will make a meal satisfying enough for anyone. A meal-in-a-crust, pasties contain meat, potatoes and onions. Pickle or relish make the perfect accompaniment.

Mary Fisher was born in the Kingdom of England.¹ She married in 1648 in Dedham, Massachusetts Bay.¹ She died in 1691 in Dedham.¹

Her daughter, Sarah Battelle, was born in 1654 in Dedham.² She married in 1679 in Dedham.³ She died in 1689.⁴

Her daughter, Mary Titus, was born in 1681 in Rehoboth, Plymouth Colony.⁵ She was widowed in 1710.⁶ She died in 1779.⁶

Joseph Garlick was baptized in 1828 in Peak Forest, England.¹ His illegitimate son, Henry, was baptized in 1843 in Taxal, Eng.² Joseph married Henry’s mother, Ann Mellor, in 1849 in Manchester, Eng.³ In 1850, they emigrated from Liverpool, Eng., and they immigrated to New Orleans, Louisiana.⁴

My American ancestress was a victim of the Russian flu pandemic. Ellen Beech was born in 1804 in New Jersey.¹ She was widowed in 1874.² She died on 1 April 1890 in Michigan, and her death was due to influenza.¹ She was buried in Mich.³
